Navigating Grid Storage Markets and Regulatory Policy

This workshop is an introductory course on the USA regulatory framework for electricity markets and storage. In addressing storage opportunities, it is important for battery and equipment suppliers to understand the regulatory framework since it impacts the types of contracts that are available, the potential buyers for storage, the potential contracting parties for storage services, and the financing options for storage projects.  In this workshop, we discuss the different regulatory agencies involved in the US grid, the scope of their responsibilities, the impact on the types of contracts and monetization methods available, recent trends in pro-storage legislation, and the process by which storage companies can influence legislation and regulations. As part of the discussion, we will identify key regulatory issues affecting storage monetization.
