Established in 2009 by Mr. John Ward, RedT (Renewable Energy Dynamics Technology Ltd.) is led by a highly skilled engineering and management team with many years of experience in the wind power and energy storage fields.
The management team recognized a need for new storage technology that could deliver smooth dispatchable power to the grid and also meet the ever-increasing demand from businesses for alternatives to lead acid batteries as a means of delivering reliable “firm” power, in effect transforming what has always been regarded as a “backup” technology into a viable energy source.
The Vanadium Redox Flow Battery is an outstanding new energy storage technology that meets the need recognized by the RedT managment team. The concept itself is not new – the first flow battery system was built in 1884.
The generic technology has been developed over 25 years in Australia, the USA and China. Many utility scale sites are in operation worldwide. Now, after seven years of intensive development, RedT is in a position to release commercial products that exploit its own patents and know-how in the advanced redox battery field.
The company has received broad-based financial and management support from Jeff Kenna's Energy for Sustainable Development (ESD) group, which provided the genesis of the technical solution, and latterly by CAMCO, a global carbon and emissions trading company, which is a major shareholder in RedT.
