IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid has announced a call for papers for a special issues entitled "Energy Storage Applications for Smart Grid."
Energy storage is becoming a critical component in electricity delivery systems to improve power grid reliability and efficiency and integrate intermittent renewable energy sources. However, storage devices have specific technology-driven characteristics to consider when connected to the grid. This issue aims at addressing the challenges and opportunities in energy storage applications for smart grid to enhance future power systems’ sustainability, reliability, and efficiency. We invite original and unpublished submissions discussing emerging energy storage options, business models for energy storage applications, performance of energy storage applications, and novel energy storage applications such as demand response programs and virtual energy storage options. Demonstration or field application experiences, discussion on market or policy issues related to acceptance of energy storage applications will also be given consideration for publication.
