Washington, D.C. – The Electricity Storage Association (ESA), the preeminent trade association dedicated to fostering the development and commercialization of energy storage technologies, commended the findings of a report released by the Copper Development Association (CDA) that forecasts robust growth and lower cost throughout the energy storage market.

The Batteries and Energy Storage Hub should accelerate the discovery of new electrochemical energy storage concepts and incorporate these into new prototypes for storing energy in a reliable, economic, and efficient manner. Rather than initially focusing on a single technology or incremental improvements to current technologies, the Hub must deliver revolutionary research that will result in new technologies and approaches.

As the world's premier electricity storage trade organization, the non-profit Electricity Storage Association (ESA) is able to draw directly from its diverse membership to provide a highly relevant and comprehensive annual meeting agenda.  We look forward to showcasing the breadth of the ESA's membership during this year's meeting in Washington, DC.

We are looking forward to bringing the storage industry together at the Electricity Storage Association's (ESA) 22nd Annual Meeting at The Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC from May 2-4, 2012. Two workshops and the opening reception will be held on Wednesday, May 2nd and the full program will be held on Thursday, May 3rd and Friday, May 4th.

UK energy storage technology development company Highview Power Storage has won both the Award for Energy and Environment and the Grand Prix Prize (across all categories) at this year’s prestigious The Engineer Technology and Innovation Awards. Now in their fifth year, these awards, presented at the Royal Society on Friday, celebrate collaborative engineering projects that have, or are likely to have, a significant impact on the sectors they are active in. With energy storage estimated to be worth more than $100bn globally over the next decade and expected to generate more than 100,000 new jobs, Highview hopes that the award will help demonstrate that the UK has a real opportunity to win market share in this key worldwide growth sector.

The Electricity Storage Association (ESA) applauds Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR), Susan Collins (R-ME) and Senate Energy Chairman Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) for introducing the Storage Technology for Renewable and Green Energy Act of 2011 (STORAGE). This investment tax credit for energy storage technologies of all types is expected to jump start an industry that has enormous potential to increase the reliability, security and efficiency of our nation's electric grid.
