The nation's first energy storage bill was signed into law the afternoon of Thursday, September 29, 2010 by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

ESA Executive Director Brad Roberts has been re-appointed to a new two year term on the Department of Energy's Electricity Advisory Committee by Secretary of Energy Dr. Stephen Chu.

John D. Boyes, Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, New Mexico, is the 2010 recipient of the Electricity Storage Association (ESA)'s annual Phil Symons Electricity Storage award. Mr. Boyes, the manager of the Energy Storage and Distributed Energy Resources Department at Sandia, received the award at the ESA's 20th Annual Meeting, held in Charlotte, North Carolina on May 4-6, 2010.

Mr. Boyes was recognized for his instrumental role in the evolution of storage systems having, for the past 12 years, managed the Energy Storage Systems Program at Sandia National Laboratories, which is funded by the Department of Energy.
