Washington, D.C. – One year after commencing public policy advocacy efforts in the nation’s capitol, members of the Electricity Storage Association (ESA) – the preeminent trade association dedicated to fostering the development and commercialization of energy storage technologies – will embark on Capitol Hill on Thursday to educate Members of Congress on issues of importance to the industry and push for increased action on energy storage policy.

Chris Gibson (R-NY) and Mike Thompson (D-CA) introduced legislation that would create an investment tax credit (ITC) for energy storage technologies of all types and help jumpstart an industry that has enormous potential to increase the reliability, security, and efficiency of the nation’s electric grid. The Storage Technology for Renewable and Green Energy Act (STORAGE) Act (H.R. 4096) is the House companion legislation to S. 1845, introduced by Sens. Ron Wyden (D-OR), Jeff Bingaman (D-NM), and Susan Collins (R-ME).

The Electricity Storage Association (ESA) has signed agreements to work with industry groups in three states--California, New York and Texas. The California Energy Storage Alliance (CESA), New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium (NY-BES+) and Texas Energy Storage Alliance (TESA) were formed by companies operating in their respective states joining together to accomplish mutually beneficial policy goals at the state level.
